Description

This study deals with the Foreign Policy during the period 1967-1973. It examines the geostrategic view of the regime, its diplomatic and defense policy.

Specifically, it analyzes:

- The relations with the U.S.A.: It addresses with evidence whether the 21st of April was instigated or not. It analyzes the adventurous course of Greece-U.S.A. relations throughout the six years 1967-1973 with completely unknown aspects and backgrounds.

- The relations with Western Europe: It analyzes the issue of withdrawal from the Council of Europe. It examines the "freeze" as well as the progress of Greece's accession process to the EEC. Finally, it explores the diplomatic and trade relations of Greece with the most significant countries in Western Europe.

- The relations with the Eastern "bloc": It examines the regime's opening towards communist states. Proposals for Multilateral Balkan Cooperation and the various bilateral relations with Eastern countries are discussed. Additionally, it evaluates the handling of the so-called "Macedonian" issue and Northern Epirus.

- The relations with People's China and the "non-aligned world": It examines the agreements signed with Mao Zedong's People's China, attempts to open relations with Japan, the path towards African states, relations with Arab countries and Israel.

- Greek-Turkish relations & the Cyprus issue: It examines the course from the crisis of 1967 until November 1973. The defense doctrine of the regime, Greek-Turkish approaches, the policy in the Aegean, Thrace, and the handling of the Cyprus issue.
