Leucada is lush with olive groves, some well-maintained and others abandoned for years, to the point that they now resemble natural vegetation.
In places, small clusters of pine forests and scattered oak trees can be found, which form a forest only in the higher areas of Skaros. There used to be extensive vineyards on the island, but they have been dwindling year by year. The slopes of the mountains and hills are covered with Mediterranean scrub and brush in the more barren areas.
The most significant habitats on the island are the lagoons in the north, which interact with the wetlands of Amvrakikos and host many prominent representatives of the avian world, as well as the highlands of Englouvou with their interesting flora and unique traditional rural landscapes.
The aerial tour of the landscapes of Leucada begins with the circumnavigation of the island, then moves inland and concludes at the complex of small islands located to the east.
