The book "Fire and Axe" is a concise political, diplomatic, and military history of the great, glorious, yet terrifying decade that Greece experienced after 1939.

Several pages are dedicated to the roots of the events of that decade in the past, as well as their repercussions in the future. Here and there, one or two pages refer to lesser-known and less significant episodes, which are, however, characteristic of those terrible times.
