This volume brings together a series of representative texts from the socio-psychological research output over the past 20 years on the terms and processes of social reproduction and change in contemporary "Western-type" liberal societies.

It addresses critical and contested aspects of the broader issue of hegemony from various theoretical perspectives in social psychology, based on research programs. In this sense, it expands our oversight of the mechanisms and processes through which contemporary societies are legitimized or delegitimized - processes that, until now, have not been illuminated from the perspective of social psychology in the Greek literature.

This collection, aside from the thematic gap mentioned above, covers contemporary theoretical and empirical socio-psychological approaches originating from both European and American thinkers, thus bringing together traditions that do not always communicate easily with each other.

The introduction by the editors illuminates the points where these contributions converse and those where they oppose each other. The aim is to present an approach to Contemporary Societies through the lens of hegemony and their change within the framework of socio-psychological literature.
