The QNAP TS-H973AX-8G tower NAS features 9 HDD and SSD bays and runs QuTS hero, based on ZFS. Its quad-core AMD Ryzen V1500B processor runs at 2.2 GHz and is paired with 8 GB of DDR4 memory.

The bays include 5 × 3.5" slots for SATA 6 Gb/s drives and 4 × 2.5" slots for SATA or U.2 NVMe SSDs. Bays 1 and 2 also support SATA drives. For networking, it features one 10GBASE-T Multi-Gig port and two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, with port trunking and failover support. Storage can be expanded via USB or QNAP TR-004 and TR-002 enclosures.

ZFS supports 128-bit data deduplication, block-level compression, snapshots and real-time SnapSync. Virtualization Station and Container Station are supported for virtualization and applications, along with QVR Elite for surveillance, featuring MP4 recordings and access via QVR Pro Client for Windows®, Mac® and mobile devices. A QNAP QDA-UMP adapter can be used to install an M.2 NVMe Gen 3 x4 SSD.
