The Zebra DS9908 hybrid barcode scanner combines handheld and presentation operation, automatically switching between them when removed from its stand. In handheld mode, it can be used with either hand, while in presentation mode it adjusts the scanning field to avoid accidental reads of nearby objects. Handheld scanning supports object distances of up to 62 cm.

The 800 MHz microprocessor and PRZM Intelligent Imaging Technology support the reading of 1D, 2D, and Digimarc barcodes, even when they are hard to read, crumpled, faded, glossy, damaged, or low-contrast. The scanner is used at points of sale, in retail spaces, at check-in, and in hospitality settings.
