In the 40-inch range, there aren't many options. I chose it because of Android, some other features, price, and a four-year warranty (although unnecessary).
As for the negatives, there is a complete lack of serious user instructions: the booklet that comes in the package only has safety instructions, how to attach the legs, basic technical specifications, and how to turn it on/off. The device's menus have an equally concise and difficult to use e-manual. No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find anything substantial online, so I contacted the store, the representative, and the service for instructions over the phone, regarding how to arrange channels in the desired order and some other clarifications. They were all very polite, and we managed to figure it out, but I took notes, collected scattered pieces from the Skyworth manual (which is one of the top three companies in Android TV), and some OEM Android TVs, and made my own guide :-)
Also, in the packaging, there is only the standard 2-year warranty in German, so I asked them to write it on the receipt and stamp it - which they did.
Let's move on to the positives: Good picture quality, smooth motion, detail, and pleasant colors, with many customization options. The factory settings on all the presets seemed very bright and warm to me, so I adjusted the gamma to a darker setting, added a bit of blue, and reduced some green. The sound is typical for a TV, "shallow" but the dialogues sound very clear, without distortion even at relatively high volumes. For more, you will need a soundbar. The build quality seems better than two other well-known 40-inch models I saw up close in a popular chain store, and the remote resembles a higher category, it definitely has a solid feel, and the Google Assistant responds well if... you have good pronunciation. Here we come to the Android TV (v.9), which runs smoothly despite the typical weak specifications - a 4-core 1300MHz processor and only 1GB of RAM. It takes about 1 minute to start up fully and respond correctly to commands from a completely turned off state, or about 15-20 seconds from sleep mode. If you don't like this, DO NOT get an Android TV, find something simpler. I should mention that during the initial setup, it asked for an update, which downloaded and installed properly. The existing applications are the basic ones (Netflix, Prime Video, Google, etc.), so I added a browser, file manager, ERTflix, Kodi. After all that, the remaining storage space is 2.5GB, which you can expand by using a USB stick. The internet connection is trouble-free and stable via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Final conclusion: after spending some time adjusting it with... the help of customer service since the instructions are essentially non-existent, you get a lot of TV for its price, with a good LCD panel with detail and many customization options, with typical but clear sound, and an operating system that offers many capabilities now and at least for several years.

edit 2: I'm coming back after three years, as yesterday, on 15/6/2024, it received an upgrade to Android 11 + security update. It may sound self-promoting, but the functions run noticeably faster, and the continued support shows how serious the "mother" Skyworth is.
Στις 40 ίντσες δεν υπάρχουν και πολλές επιλογές. Την προτίμησα λόγω android, κάποιων άλλων χαρακτηριστικών, τιμής και τετραετούς εγγύησης (αχρείαστη να 'ναι).
Στα αρνητικά η παντελής έλλειψη σοβαρών οδηγιών χρήσης: το έντυπο που υπάρχει στην συσκευασία έχει μόνο οδηγίες ασφαλείας, πως βιδώνεις τα ποδαράκια, βασικά τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά, και... πως ανάβει/σβήνει. Στα μενού της συσκευής υπάρχει ένα εξίσου περιληπτικό και δύσχρηστο e-manual. Όσο κι αν έψαξα δεν μπόρεσα να βρω κάτι σοβαρό ούτε στο διαδίκτυο, οπότε επικοινώνησα με κατάστημα, αντιπροσωπία, και service για... οδηγίες από τηλεφώνου, για το πως μπαίνουν τα κανάλια στην σειρά που θες και κάποιες άλλες διευκρινήσεις. Ευγενέστατοι όλοι, βγάλαμε άκρη, αλλά κράτησα σημειώσεις, μάζεψα και σκόρπια κομμάτια από την μαμά Skyworth (που είναι μια από τις τρεις κορυφαίες εταιρείες στις android tv), και κάποιες OEM android TV και έφτιαξα ένα δικό μου :-)
Επίσης στην συσκευασία ΔΕΝ υπάρχει παρά μόνο η τυπική 2ετής εγγύηση στα Γερμανικά, οπότε ζήτησα να μου το γράψουν στην απόδειξη και να πατήσουν σφραγίδα - όπερ και εγένετο.
Πάμε στα θετικά: Καλή εικόνα, με ομαλή κίνηση, λεπτομέρεια και συμπαθητικά χρώματα, με πολλές δυνατότητες παραμετροποίησης. Οι εργοστασιακές ρυθμίσεις σε όλα τα preset μου φάνηκαν πολύ φωτεινές και θερμές, οπότε γύρισα το gamma σε σκοτεινό, πρόσθεσα λίγο μπλέ και αφαίρεσα λίγο πράσινο. Ο ήχος τυπικός TV, "ρηχός" μεν αλλά οι διάλογοι ακούγονται πολύ καθαρά, χωρίς παραμόρφωση ακόμα και σε σχετικά υψηλές εντάσεις. Για παραπάνω θα χρειαστεί ένα soundbar. Η κατασκευή δείχνει καλύτερη από δυο άλλες γνωστές 40άρες που είδα από κοντά σε γνωστή αλυσίδα, και το remote παραπέμπει σε ανώτερη κατηγορία, έχει σίγουρα πατήματα και ο google assistant ανταποκρίνεται καλά αν... έχεις καλή προφορά. Εδώ ερχόμαστε και στο android TV (v.9), που τρέχει άνετα παρά τα τυπικά αδύναμα χαρακτηριστικά - 4πύρηνος επεξεργαστής 1300MHz, μόλις 1GB ram. Θέλει περίπου 1 λεπτό για να ξεκινήσει πλήρως και να ανταποκρίνεται σωστά σε εντολές από εντελώς σβηστή, ή περίπου 15"-20" από sleep mode. Αν δεν σας αρέσει αυτό ΜΗΝ πάρετε android tv, βρείτε κάτι πιο απλό. Να πω ότι με την πρώτη έναρξη, ζήτησε update το οποίο κατέβηκε και εγκαταστάθηκε κανονικά. Οι υπάρχουσες εφαρμογές είναι οι βασικές (Netflix, prime video, google κ.λπ.), οπότε πρόσθεσα ένα browser, file manager, ertflix, kodi. Μετά απ' όλα αυτά, ο εναπομένων χώρος είναι 2,5GB τον οποίο μπορείς να επεκτείνεις ενσωματώνοντας ένα στικάκι. Η σύνδεση με το διαδίκτυο είναι απροβλημάτιστη και σταθερή μέσω wifi ή ethernet.
Τελικό συμπέρασμα: αφού ασχοληθείς λίγο να την ρυθμίσεις με... την βοήθεια του service αφού οι οδηγίες είναι κατ' ουσίαν ανύπαρκτες, παίρνεις πολύ τηλεόραση για τα λεφτά της, με καλό LCD panel με λεπτομέρεια και πολλές δυνατότητες παραμετροποίησης, με τυπικό αλλά καθαρό ήχο, και λειτουργικό που προσφέρει πολλές δυνατότητες τώρα αλλά και τουλάχιστον για αρκετά χρόνια.

edit 2: Επανέρχομαι μετά από τρία χρόνια, αφού χθες 15/6/2024 έλαβε αναβάθμιση σε android 11 + ενημέρωση ασφαλείας. Μπορεί να είναι αυθυποβολή, αλλά οι λειτουργίες τρέχουν αισθητά πιο γρήγορα, ενώ η συνέχεια της υποστήριξης δείχνει πόσο σοβαρή είναι η "μαμά" Skyworth.
