Everest, Sherpa, attempts to conquer the highest peak in the world. These, perhaps, come to the mind of the Greek reader when thinking of Nepal, this small country in S.E. Asia. However, in recent years, Nepal has become the site of a unique political 'miracle'.

The book attempts to explain the political evolution of this state from its establishment to the collapse of the monarchy and the electoral victory of the Maoist Communist Party, which fought armed struggles against the ruling classes of Nepal for ten years.

To understand the social transformations that led to this outcome, not only is the political history of Nepal presented but also the significance of Hinduism and the caste system in shaping Nepalese social reality is highlighted.

Additionally, supplementary elements such as the system of ethnic dominance, social inequalities, and the patriarchal nature of Nepali society are examined, along with the creation and development of the Nepali leftist movement.

For the author, the Maoist communist movement's understanding of the peculiarities presented by Nepali society (ethnicism, racism, patriarchy, caste differentiations, class and regional inequalities) will lead to its rapid strengthening and consequently to the crisis of the system of social and political power that existed until the early 21st century.
