It is estimated that one hundred sixty thousand (160,000) elderly people suffer from Alzheimer's disease in Greece, a number that alarmingly increases every year.

This disease is not painful for the patients; in fact, it may even be liberating for them, but it can become exhausting for their relatives, who have taken on their care and support. Therefore, the actual sufferers are not just one hundred sixty thousand but at least three times that number.

This book does not primarily deal with the medical aspects of the disease, but rather with the social implications and the problems it creates. It is the personal testimony of the author about events she experienced while caring for her mother, who was diagnosed with and eventually died from Alzheimer's disease.
