Specifications
Avaton oak honey is very dark, almost black in colour, with a flavour reminiscent of caramel and wood. It is less sweet than blossom honey and has a slightly bitter aftertaste. Its thick texture stays fluid for a long time, as it contains less glucose than most honeys. It is pure honey, with no added sugar or syrup.
It pairs well with yoghurt and walnuts, hard and mature cheeses, and pork marinades. When cooking, add it towards the end and do not let it boil. Store it sealed at room temperature, not in the refrigerator. If it crystallises, place the jar in lukewarm water without heating the honey above 40 °C.
