Over time, I have had various non-branded Chinese devices priced from 20-40 euros, none of which I was ever satisfied with, and after a short period of use, they also developed problems... So I decided to look for a good quality branded device. After searching, I decided to get the Panasonic KS-TX880 EXB. The phone is a genuine Panasonic, not related to any Chinese device, even though it is relatively light (550g), and it comes with a plethora of documents specifying standards, warranty, safety, contracts, and instructions... things I never saw with the Chinese devices I had. (It has quick instructions in Greek, but the detailed instruction manual is only in English.) The quick summary instructions in Greek helped me a lot to learn and set up the device, and I didn't need to refer to the detailed English manual for the basic functions. The device is of very good quality, with very good plastic quality and feel. Overall, the whole device does not feel cheap, and it is... Made in Malaysia!!!! and not China. It is a very elegant and beautiful device and looks very stylish in an office, business, or home. It has options for vertical wall mounting or on a desk and has adjustable height for optimal use and visual monitoring of the device. On a flat surface, the device stands quite stable and has non-slip rubber feet. The numeric keypad has a good feel, you can easily and quickly dial the number without double presses or sticking. I should note that the number keys and the lower function and navigation keys are plastic, which is good because it helps with good tactile feedback and quick dialing and finding phone numbers in the phonebook!!! The six upper function keys and the ten memory keys are rubber, but they do not have a good tactile feel. The fact that the rubber keys do not feel good to press does not cause a problem in their operation, which is not very frequent for me. The internal electronic boards, as I saw as an electronics expert online, are of excellent quality and construction, and nothing like the cheap Chinese ones I used to buy from time to time. The screen is LCD type and is one of those that are very high quality and reliable, compared to the new Dot Matrix screens which may be backlit but after a while have problems and consume more power. The LCD screen of this device is clear and with large characters, but it is not backlit. The device has menu settings, language (it also has Greek!!!), time/date, volume adjustment for the handset/speaker/ringer. The biggest advantage is that it has 20 direct dial memories (10 on the visible keys, and another 10 on the second function level of the same keys). I think the 10 visible memories are enough for me. It also has 10 speed dial number memories and 50 phonebook number memories. Searching in the phonebook is done with the handy navigator. In general, I believe the number of memories is more than enough!!!! All memories can store a name up to 15 characters and a phone number up to 32 characters. The speakerphone works very well with very good sound quality. The handset has very good sound quality and listening volume (on High). Another big advantage of the device is the side jack for headphones/microphone... Hands Free!!! It has a clear LED indicator in the upper right corner for incoming and missed calls. The incoming call ringtone is the usual sound, and it is moderate in volume (at High Level). For the money, I would have preferred it to be much louder, and to have ringtone options. The ringtone is moderate to low!!!! It would be better if it was very loud and you could adjust it where you want, rather than ringing low and not being able to increase it. (A lot can become a little... A little cannot become a lot.) For the screen to work, there is a compartment underneath for three AA alkaline batteries (not included in the package), which, according to the instructions, last from 3-6 months depending on usage and battery quality. However, users report that the batteries last 1-2 months, as with some other devices I had. (I put in good brand and quality batteries, and I’ll see how long they actually last for me.) For the money, I would have preferred it to have rechargeable batteries... and an external power charger, because generally, changing alkaline batteries 3-4 times a year and reprogramming the device will be a hassle, as with some previous devices I had. Still, I am 7/10 satisfied with the device because it is of quality, and I definitely recommend it and it is worth buying.

Below I briefly mention the serious disadvantages:
- Moderate to low ringtone volume (which is a serious disadvantage!!)
- No ringtone sound selection
- No backlit screen
- The screen requires alkaline batteries to operate, which are not provided in the package and need frequent replacement. (Very serious disadvantage)
- No detailed instructions in Greek (only English)

I am returning after about 1 month of use.
**** Indeed, after 1 month of use, the batteries reached 60-65%.
**** Its ringtone is indeed moderate to low, so if there is a bit of noise in the area, it cannot be heard and I miss calls.

So, as an electronics expert, I had to find immediate easy solutions.
(I don't care about voiding the warranty, because I want to get my job done...)
***** Below I explain how I solved 2 of the 3 disadvantages of the phone...*****
1) ...I opened the device and installed a circuit and plug for external power. I put in good rechargeable batteries and an external plug-in power supply, so the phone was converted to have external power and battery operation when there is a power outage!!!!
No more dead screen and battery changes...!!!!!
Something that Panasonic should already have included for the price you pay...!!!!!
I could also do the charging via the same telephone line cable so only one cable would be visible and not two... but I preferred to keep them separate and bundled both with a special thin plastic spiral cable organizer and it’s perfect.

2)... The ringtone is low and I definitely had to find a solution. To avoid internal electronic modifications, for now, I chose the easy solution. I bought a ready-made external sound and light telephone ringer for 5 euros, and thus solved the low ringtone issue. Of course, the extra ringer device I installed made the office look worse... but that's the least of it. If I see that the external ringer still does not satisfy me, I will intervene electronically to further amplify the phone's ringer in another way.

3) I did not bother at all to make the screen backlit, because I have no problem, my space is bright. But surely this can also be solved.

Unfortunately, for the money this specific phone costs, it does have quality in all aspects... both acoustically and functionally, it has a nice design... and a good quality LCD screen (not dot matrix, which are power-hungry and break), and overall I like the device a lot... but it has 3 serious disadvantages for me that, as Panasonic, it should not have, and the parent company should immediately address these in the exact same model.

Unacceptable telephone device. To have indications on the device's display, you have to change batteries every 2 months if you don't use it, and in a shorter time if you do use it (if you receive calls and answer or make calls), that is, every 1-1.5 months. When I called the responsible employee of Panasonic in Greece and mentioned the issue, he looked into it thoroughly and told me that it was written in the device's manual in English but not in Greek. He suggested that we look at it together to see if it was true and sent me batteries for testing. Tests were conducted and the results were as mentioned above. I do not recommend it, both for the capabilities of the device - there are devices today that do not have batteries and have the same or even more capabilities - and for the representative's refusal to allow me to return it, as the battery life was not stated on this site or in the Greek user manual. I should have read the English manual as well. Unacceptable for a company like Panasonic!!! I sincerely regret it and will not buy products made by them.
