Description

Herdegen replacement foot tip for crutches code: 0805205

  • Diameter: 1.9 cm
  • Has a non-slip base
  • Does not wear out easily
  • Suitable for Crutches: 0805219, 0805220, 0805221

Useful tips for proper cane use:

  • Determining the appropriate position for the cane: The top of your cane should reach your wrist when you stand upright. Your elbow should bend slightly when you hold the cane in your hand. Hold the cane with the hand on the opposite side of the one that needs support.
  • Walking: When walking, your cane and injured foot should swing and touch the ground at the same time. To start, place your cane slightly ahead of your foot and step with your injured foot. Complete the step with your "good" foot.
  • Stairs: To go up the stairs, grab the handrail (if possible) and lean on your good foot first, with your cane in the hand opposite the injured foot. Then, lift the injured foot. To go down the stairs, put your cane first on the step, then your injured foot, and finally your "good" foot, which carries your body weight.

WARNING: When the rubber at the bottom end of the cane wears out, replace it. Check it often to stay safe.

  • These are a very useful upgrade to basically any walking stick using the standard 19mm metal pole (which virtually all seem to now). You simply remove the existing foot and replace it with one of these which have a sort of flexible joint so the foot is always flat on the floor. This is much safer and reduces slippage on any stick. It is a 30 second upgrade and highly recommended.
