Description

High-quality water sharpening stone from Matsunaga stones, Osaka, Japan

Unlike Western stones, Japanese stones use water instead of oil to prevent the surface from clogging with metal particles.

Japanese water stones are softer than Western stones and have a comfortable feel in use because you can see and feel the stone cutting the surface and creating a continuous and sharp edge on the tool.

Because they are relatively softer, these stones may need to be resurfaced from time to time.

Synthetic finishing stone (No6000)

The stone is mounted on a hard plastic base to prevent slipping during sharpening.

Usage: Soak the stone in water for 3 minutes before use and keep it wet by spraying with water during sharpening.
