Alexander the Great was born in 356 in Pella, the son of the Macedonian king Philip II and the Epirus princess Olympias, and heir to the throne of Macedonia.
At the age of thirty, he conquered the entire known world, expanding his kingdom from Greece to India.
Although he died young and did not have the chance to establish the global government he envisioned, he nonetheless created a New World, the Hellenistic one, which is the foundation upon which the world that emerged after his death was built.
