Description & Specifications

Chapter 1 presents the method of analysis and solution of magnetic circuits (which underpin the operation of electrical machines) utilizing the methodology for solving electrical circuits.

Chapter 2 develops the principles and operating characteristics, as well as the equivalent circuits of transformers (ideal and real, single-phase and three-phase, auto-transformers and variacs).

Chapter 3 provides both the construction structure and the basic operating principles of the main types of rotating electrical machines.

Chapter 4 presents operational information on modern three-phase Alternating Current (AC) machines as generators and as motors. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of modern machines and their behavior, as well as the solution of circuits with modern machines.

Chapter 5 presents operational information on asynchronous three-phase AC machines (also known as induction machines). Emphasis is placed on the analysis of asynchronous motors and their behavior, as well as the solution of circuits with asynchronous machines.

Chapter 6 presents Direct Current (DC) machines, which were the first to be developed and are the least used in modern times. Emphasis is placed on the presentation of equivalent circuits and their solution, whether they operate as generators or as motors.

Chapter 7 presents the main principles for selection based on the technical characteristics of electrical machines for their various applications in industry and floating structures.

Chapter 8 presents the basic operating principles of semiconductor switches and their applications in the main power electronics configurations, as utilized in modern industrial applications and floating structures.
