Echocardiography Paper and Echocardiogram

An echocardiogram is the recording of the small currents produced in the heart that reach the surface of the body. A cardiograph, through electrodes placed at specific points on the body, records these currents and prints them on paper.

The echocardiogram reflects the electrical state of the heart and is important for detecting symptoms such as fainting, chest pain, shortness of breath, swollen legs, tachycardia, and bradycardia.

Preventive Echocardiogram

• Men over 40 years old or women over 50 who have no health problems are advised to have an echocardiogram every 3-5 years.
• If there are additional risk factors, such as smoking or diabetes, screening should be done every two years.
• In the case of a family history of cardiovascular problems, screening should be done at 5 years younger than the age at which the immediate relative suffered and then every two years.
