Description & Specifications

This work, by the author and professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Georgios N. Gotsis, aims to negotiate management philosophy issues within a purely non-Western context, such as that of the so-called Confucian cluster of the Far East.

The main axis of the work is the philosophical foundation of this business ethics, as well as the exploration of its organizational implications. In this direction, the basic premises of Confucian philosophy are discussed, taking into account specific peculiarities (Chinese, Japanese, Korean traditions).

This is followed by a thorough examination of the reception of this problematic within the framework of a management philosophy and practice that seeks to constructively combine contemporary Western and indigenous approaches across a wide range of organizational phenomena and behaviors.

This demand becomes even more relevant in the upcoming post-Covid-19 era, which brings back to the forefront of academic discussion the issue of the normative foundations of the management practices of organizations and corporate entities around the globe. At the same time, the proposed solutions vary, from the request for a broader organizational transformation to the adoption of a multi-level, inclusive care ethics.
