Description

Description

The G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM memory technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and greater capacity than its predecessor.

Specifically, DDR4 offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the more size we choose and is supported by the motherboard, the better, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size in relation to speed (MT/s).

The G.Skill Trident Z RGB provides a speed of 4400MT/s, with CL19 and 16 GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM modules, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Trident Z RGB DDR4 RAM has (XMP 2.0/EXPO) profiles with performances:

  • Speed (XMP/EXPO): 4400 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP/EXPO): 18-22-22-42
  • Voltage (XMP/EXPO): 1.50V

RGB Lighting

The RGB lighting in the Trident Z series offers all the means and functions to create a unique and impressive look for your computer.

You can achieve this either through the software provided by the company, Trident Z Lighting Control, or with compatibility in Sync Up software provided by motherboard companies. The advantage of Sync Up is that we can synchronize the RGB lighting of the entire computer.

Trident Z is compatible with Asus Aura, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light, and ASRock Polychrome Sync software.

Cooling & Design

The aluminum heatsink material, with its design including fins for heat dissipation, keeps the memory at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

The 8700K @ 5Ghz didn't handle it at 4400 but at 4200 with 1.581V it's fine. Basically, you enable XMP, lower the speed from 4400 to 4200 and the voltage from 1.5 to 1.6 and it works.
