The dynamic Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A2 RXD lens is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. It features the world's first maximum aperture of f/2.8 for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless in this category and has a compact and lightweight design. This ultra-wide lens is particularly suitable for landscapes, astrophotography, and architectural shots. The bright constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 complements this range and provides increased control over depth of field along with improved low-light performance.
The optical design incorporates one XLD element, two LD elements, and two glass aspherical elements to produce a highly corrected image with reduced chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature Tamron's BBAR coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast when working in backlit and harsh lighting conditions. A responsive RXD stepping motor enables quick, nearly silent autofocus performance for photos and videos. The minimum object distance is just 15 centimeters at the widest end of the zoom range, unlocking the powerful capability of wide-angle macro shooting with a unique perspective that makes close objects appear larger and distant objects smaller. Additionally, the maximum aperture of f/2.8 produces a shallower depth of field that creates soft background bokeh details. The moisture-resistant construction protects the lens under harsh conditions, and a fluorine coating on the front lens element protects against dust, dirt, and smudges.
