Description

Description

Although the Earth orbits around the Sun throughout the year, we do not feel this motion even though every day the Earth is in a different position than it was the day before.

Thus, from each new position we see the Sun from a different angle as it moves daily from west to east. This is why we observe different constellations in different seasons.

The most popular and esteemed popularizer of astronomy in Greece guides us through the Greek sky by season, explaining and analyzing which constellations are visible according to each season, how each month of the year got its name, and introducing us to basic concepts of astronomy.

This edition includes rich photographic material.

Red stars are the least hot and blue stars are the hottest. The same thing happens with stars as with an iron rod when we place it in a lit fireplace. At first, the iron rod takes on a reddish color, but as it heats up more and more, its color changes and successively takes on different hues: orange, yellow, white, until, when it becomes very hot, it begins to glow with a bluish color. The same thing is observed with stars. Some are red, others are orange, others yellow, others white, and others bluish. This is because all stars have different surface temperatures.
