The Ares Games Ancient Chronicles board game expansion is a cooperative fantasy game in which players face the forces of evil together, controlled by the game system itself. The campaign takes place in the distant past of the events of Immortal Souls and provides a new starting point. It is compatible with the Immortal Souls campaign and allows heroes and monsters to be transferred between the two campaigns.
The game features exploration of the world and cities, missions with multiple outcomes, and different progression paths for heroes. The combat system uses custom ten-sided dice, while enemies are controlled by advanced artificial intelligence. The difficulty can be adjusted through rule options and the Challenge Set, while familiars, item crafting, loot, treasures, and traps round out the adventure.
