Description

MIG/MAG Welding Machine by BORMANN.

  • 450gr/1000gr COIL (0.8-0.9mm)
  • TIG function with the use of an appropriate torch (not included)

Capabilities

MIG / MAG welding machine from the manufacturer Bormann. The MIG method requires the wire to have a special coating (flux) or it needs to be connected to an external gas cylinder (e.g., argon, CO2). The MAG method creates welds with gas supply, making it ideal for indoor welding. It has an output current of up to 130A, which requires more time to melt thicker wires and more passes on thicker welds. Its weight reaches 7.7kg.

For amateur use, it is very good; I would have liked it to have a speed regulator for the wire, but that's okay, I believe I will get used to it over time. The welding cable is quite long, but the second one for the clamp is short; I also didn't like the clamp itself, which doesn't have a large opening, so it makes application quite difficult. Imagine that a 17 mm channel beam is barely held, so consider the maximum opening of the clamp around there. The build quality seems quite good, and in terms of adjustments, it has the very basics: type of welding, amp level, and it has one more internal adjustment that I'm not sure I understand exactly what it is, but the incomplete instructions in the manual don't mention anything either. Other than that, I am completely satisfied; as for its reliability, time will tell.

For simple amateur use, it is the best. You can easily handle simple tasks with minimal experience. Once you find it and get used to it, it is very easy to use and produces reliable welds for its category (flux). For example, I repaired an iron door and the result was more than satisfactory.

It is MMA/MIG, meaning it accepts both electrode and flux wire. At a price level around 130 euros, which has dropped, it's okay if you can overlook the disadvantage of the absence of a bright indicator for the amperage and its adjustment (very) approximately - although with 30 euros more it's worth going for another machine that shows you everything. The limit of 140 A will satisfy the average user who is not going to ask for welds with an electrode larger than 2.5-3mm.

Very good choice! The wire passes in seconds! You place the spool in its position, select the diameter, direct it to the socket entrance, choose the correct MIG program from the selection panel in front, remove the electrode, press the trigger and in a very short time the wire comes out. You add the electrode again and it is ready to use. For grounding, you use the cable in the plus (+) terminal. The wire speed adjustment is done by the selector with minus (-) and plus (+) through the cover to the right of the spool. With proper settings in wire speed and A, you achieve satisfactory results without much dirt, even though I have been a user of the electrode for years, I consider it a satisfactory choice always in relation to its price.
