Hellafarm Surround WP insecticide forms a kaolin coating on the surface of plants, acting mainly as a repellent and irritant to insects. The white film camouflages the crop from migrating insects and prevents female psyllids from recognising it as a host, limiting egg-laying. Young larvae cannot feed on the coated plants and move away.
The active substance is calcined kaolin (aluminium silicate). The coating allows photosynthesis and reflects infrared and ultraviolet radiation, helping to prevent sunburn. It is used to control pear psylla, olive fruit fly and grapevine thrips.
