The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is a device installed in the exhaust system of diesel vehicles to reduce soot emissions and meet European and Greek emission standards. This filter captures toxic microscopic particles from the exhaust gases and aims to reduce harmful particulates by 80%.
Due to limited storage space, the particulates must be "burned" regularly to regenerate the DPF. If soot "blocks" the filter's function, it can cause problems for the engine and the turbo.
