The material and the mat are of moderate quality, and I wouldn't say they are very branded (fits only approximately in my car). It will do its job, and I didn't notice any smell (if that is indeed a common issue), but it doesn't look very nice.

The mat is fine. It doesn't smell at all (it's plastic, not rubber). I would prefer the lip around it not to be raised, as it doesn't serve any purpose. On the contrary, it slightly hinders the application on the point where it touches the back seat. But that's a minor issue.
