Description

True to the spirit of Noctua's redux line, the NH-U12S redux is a refined, affordable version of the iconic NH-U12S, which has established itself as a benchmark for slim, highly compatible 120mm CPU coolers. The redux version uses the same proven heatsink design that guarantees 100% compatibility with tall RAM modules, as well as excellent case and PCIe compatibility. Thanks to the popular NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM fan with automatic speed control, it delivers high performance under load and operates quietly at idle. At the same time, Noctua's renowned, professional SecuFirm2 mounting system and pre-applied NT-H1 thermal paste make installation a breeze. Supported by Noctua's reliable 6-year manufacturer's warranty, the NH-U12S redux is a smart, affordable choice for a quiet, high-quality 120mm cooler.

Good cooler BUT do not use it on any Ryzen 7000 (maybe only on 7600). Due to their construction, the 7000 series requires very powerful coolers, and this one provides the bare minimum to operate at 90-95C with room temperature at 25-30C.

Awesome cooler, excellent build quality and even Noctua. At this price, you shouldn't even think about it. Very easy installation with the ready backplate. With screws and washers all ready, you don't have to do anything, screws with washers are already there, it even comes with a screwdriver. Performance in both temperatures and noise is superior to anything out there for the price.

The only issue is whether it's worth going for this one instead of the regular NH U12S, which has an extra heatpipe. It has better finishing on the heatpipes, denser and higher quality fins (I have them side by side and there's a difference), and also the soldering, sorry to say, in the Redux version is not well done and there are irregularities.

Now let's talk about the fan, which is the classic great old NOCTUA, just in gray color. It doesn't have any extra cables inside, no silicone or adapters, or extra clips like the non-Redux version (which makes sense, hence the name REDUX).

So, if you don't mind it having an older fan model, one less heatpipe, not being as aesthetically well done up close, and if you don't mind it not having the classic Noctua Brown color that is recognizable from miles away, then yes, it's a good choice.

Excellent cooler! Very easy installation. I put it on a Ryzen 2600 and it didn't take me more than 15 minutes. The fan, as expected, is quite silent compared to others at this price range. Previously, I had the Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim, which gave me a lot of trouble during installation and didn't perform well. The temperatures dropped by 10 degrees, even when the fan is at its lowest. At €56, I believe it was worth its money.
