The dialect spoken by the Greeks who have been settled along the shores of the Black Sea since ancient times and who, after the last pan-European war, were forcefully exchanged, being Ionic in origin, has over time undergone an evolution far removed from Greece.
After all, as the modern spoken Greek has also succumbed to the so-called common Greek, it has preserved only a few elements from the Ionic, yet it has later adopted many words and grammatical forms from the medieval and Byzantine languages.
Since the conquest, it has necessarily incorporated many Turkish words, some of which it still retains today, either in their original form or with Greek endings according to its own grammatical rules. The significant influence of the Turkish language in its evolution can also be seen in the fact that one can occasionally distinguish phrases that are purely Turkish and grammatical constructions that are often Turkish in nature.
