After the first 2 workouts (tempo/intervals), I wanted to get rid of them. Very hard sole and 'dead' energy return. Today, after 170km, it is my go-to shoe for fast workouts. Obviously, the FFBlast did not become like the Novablast (which I also have) but it has softened quite a bit. Otherwise, it is a very straight shoe and ideal for speeds < 4 minutes/kilometer - where its agility is evident due to the carbon plate and rocker. Its downside is comfort, I haven't worn it for long runs, but you can't have it all. At €75 purchase, a real steal.

Update 16/01/2023: Minus 1 star, as its use - now proven - is very limited for my taste and running style, mainly for intervals and tempo. It's fine up to that point. Don't even think about using it for easy/moderate/long runs, it's too hard and uncomfortable. If I had bought it at full retail price, I would cry for my money.

Shoe that at the price of 92.5 euros that was purchased, I really believe that I stole from Asics. Very good energy return and moderate absorption. They have been used in speed training, tempo runs, as well as in the Athens Half Marathon. As an 85 kg runner, I can say that my feet took quite a beating in the 1 hour and 45 minutes that I ran, but it is normal for the sole height and the pace I was running. I believe that at this price, there is no competitor if it fits your foot. They need a few kilometers to break in. The function of the half-carbon plate is very effective and it doesn't tire you even at a not so fast pace.

Description & Specifications

The Asics Magic Speed is designed for runners chasing time. It is a performance shoe for training as well as competitive activities. Thanks to the Guidesole rolling technology, equipped with a carbon plate along the entire length of the sole, it gives you the boost you need to surpass your personal records. Traditionally, all efforts to add cushioning properties to a high-tech running model add extra weight. Asics, thanks to Flytefoam Blast technology, now provides maximum shock absorption with minimal weight addition.
