Placed within the larger context of Christological disputes in 5th century Palestine, this study focuses primarily on the era of Archbishop Juvenal. Archbishop Juvenal is a prominent figure in the Christological controversies of the 5th century, as one of the ecclesiastical leaders who stood in favor of the decisions of the Council of Chalcedon. As a bishop, Juvenal combined the virtues of a hierarch and the skills of a charismatic leader.
This study, although based on known territory, sources, and literature, attempts to delve into the aspects of research that explore the history of the Church in Palestine in the 5th century, particularly the involvement of pilgrims and the impact that the pilgrimage had on the life of the Church of Jerusalem. It also examines the decisive contribution of Archbishop Juvenal of Jerusalem in the elevation of the Church of Palestine to a metropolitan ecclesiastical administration. [...]
