In January 2010, the Group for the Study of Society (O.M.I.K) organized an open discussion between three well-known historians and the public, starting from three questions about the 'December 2008'. It was the first public collective stance taken by Greek historians on the uprising and one of the few instances where Greek historians met with a non-specialized audience, discussing a contemporary issue together.
This publication contains both the three brief presentations by the historians and the subsequent discussion. The lively response from the audience confirmed, in a way, the organizers' intention to show that History can and should have a say in today’s problems and that, consequently, the discourse about the past has meaning when it is connected to the present.
