    We bought it for fun, not expecting much. This detector definitely does the job it was made for. We got it for the beach. We went to one with small pebbles but unfortunately didn't find anything. We didn't try it on sand. On soil, it finds various metallic objects, but generally, from what I understood, it detects objects up to a depth of one or two centimeters, depending on the density and when it is in direct contact with the soil. :)
