This book aims to raise awareness among educators of young children regarding issues of social and emotional development and its support within the framework of preschool education. Our goal is not to provide yet another book with information on this topic – after all, the literature, both Greek and international, is rich in both theoretical and research levels.
Moreover, we do not aim to present a general series of interventions for social and emotional development in kindergarten. On the contrary, through this book, we strive to highlight that social and emotional development is connected to the daily life of the kindergarten and that behind the practices followed lie the scientific theories, personal theories, and beliefs about children and how they develop, as well as the personal experiences that very often influence the way we interact with them.
By offering examples from life in kindergarten and connecting them with theory, this book aims to enhance reflection, introspection, and the search for constructive approaches aimed at the social and emotional development of children, as well as the personal and professional development and well-being of educators.
