This topic is a common field of Developmental and Educational Psychology. Developmental Psychology, in particular, is the branch of Psychology that studies the dynamics of the human psyche's age. Specifically, it examines the psychology of infancy, early childhood, preschool age, early school age, adolescent psychology, early youth psychology, adult psychology, and the psychology of old age.

It examines in detail the properties and processes of cognition at each age, and more generally, the age-related aspects of personality development. Since the development of the human psyche requires upbringing and education, the subject of Developmental Psychology truly coincides with that of Educational Psychology. Historically, both developed essentially simultaneously. The real unity of Developmental and Educational Psychology is due to the fact that both study the same subject, namely the person who develops and changes during ontogenesis.
