The Willow Tincture is derived from the immersion of the above-ground parts of the willow in an alcoholic solution (grappa) for a period of 4-6 weeks. During this time, the active ingredients of the above herbs dissolve into the alcoholic solution, resulting in the creation of the tincture.
The willow and the substances contained in its bark constitute the most well-known component of aspirin. The willow tincture has antipyretic properties because it contains acetylsalicylic acid (salicylic acid). This component is known for its use in aspirin and generally in the pharmaceutical industry.
The willow tincture has:
- anti-inflammatory action
- effectively reduces fever and cold
- soothes muscle and joint pains
The willow tincture can also be used preventively to protect the body from flu and cold and can be combined with echinacea tincture, which also acts as an antibiotic!
