With the new Series "Interpretative of Sacred Texts," the author Archpriest Spiridon Lontos, PhD candidate in Theology, aims to convey the hidden theological and meaningful fullness of the texts of the Holy Scripture, particularly those used in the liturgical life of our Orthodox Church.
Thus, selected biblical readings are briefly explained, allowing the person to participate in the mysteries of the Holy Spirit. The texts, accompanied by their interpretations, become more accessible to the reading audience. Fully colored edition.
The fourth book of the Series "Interpretative of Sacred Texts" is titled "The Transfiguration of the Lord." The author addresses the interpretation of the biblical readings for the feast of the Transfiguration of our Savior Jesus Christ, celebrated by the Orthodox Church on August 6. Specifically, he presents the biblical readings of the Vespers, the Orthros, and the Divine Liturgy of the feast in the original text as well as in a Modern Greek translation, followed by the interpretative analysis of each.
The ascent to Mount Tabor announces the ascent to Jerusalem, the glory of Tabor the crucifixion and glory of Christ, which leads to the Resurrection and the exaltation during the Ascension. The ultimate goal of the book is to make these texts more accessible to those who do not have the necessary training for their understanding.
