Description

Vipow Gel Battery 6 V / 3.3 Ah. Gel batteries have become an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free, which means they do not require electrolyte replenishment. The sealed casing and the liquid electrolyte in gel form ensure that there is no leakage, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and making it more resistant to shocks.

Gel Battery Lifespan

One of the greatest virtues of gel batteries is their long lifespan. When used correctly, this type of battery can operate for several decades. Additionally, gel batteries are more resistant to fluctuating and extreme weather conditions.

Self-Discharge (25°C)

  • 91% after 3 months
  • 82% after 6 months
  • 64% after 9 months

Choosing a Gel Battery

The correct size is not the only thing to consider. When selecting a battery, you should take into account its capacity, which should not exceed 110% nor be lower than 90% of the recommended capacity for the device you intend to power. The output voltage is also important, and it should be very close to the recommended (+/-0.2 V).

Uses of Gel Batteries

Gel batteries are used in motorcycles, golf carts, or lawn mowers. They are also used in backup power supplies, photovoltaic systems, alarm systems, or electronic games. Furthermore, these batteries are found in vehicles with multiple electronic devices, such as vans. In this case, they serve not to start the vehicle but to power electronic equipment.

Gel Battery Charger

To function properly and prevent damage to the battery, the charger must have correctly selected current and voltage. These values will differ at various stages of charging, so it is preferable to choose an automatic charger that will adjust the appropriate charging current and voltage and will turn off when the battery is fully charged.

It is problematic! I put it in a portable speaker and it wouldn't work, not even when plugged into the power (which used to work before without the battery)!
