Charmain Baker finds herself in a very difficult position. Taking care of Gordo Billy Smith's small country house while he is ill should be easy, but Gordo Billy Smith is known as the Royal Magician of Norland, and his house bends space and time. Its unique door leads to many locations – the bedrooms, the kitchen, the caves beneath the mountains, the past, to name a few.
