'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.' When the oppressed animals of Manor Farm overthrow their master, Mr. Jones, and take control of the farm themselves, they imagine it to be the start of a life of freedom and equality. Gradually, however, a smart and ruthless elite among them, led by the pigs Napoleon and Snowball, begins to dominate the situation. Very soon, the other animals experience disappointment as they discover that not all are equal as they believed, and find themselves trapped as one form of tyranny is replaced by another.
