The Johansson 6555A satellite line amplifier combines two UHF antenna inputs into one coaxial output. Each input can be programmed independently for gain and channel selection. Configuration is performed using a computer connected via the coaxial cable and the Johansson 6554 unit. The unit is designed for installation near the antenna in SMATV systems and coaxial distribution installations.

It is part of the Johansson 65xx modular headend platform and can be combined with other units in the series, such as the 6520 channel processor and the 6565 control unit. The coaxial cable carries both the signal and the programming data.
