The Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2.1 connects to the CSI port on a Raspberry Pi or Compute Module and is used to capture HD photos and video. It features an 8-megapixel Sony IMX219PQ CMOS image sensor, fixed focus with limited adjustment, and automatic exposure control, white balance, and brightness detection.
It supports video recording at 1080p, 720p at 60 fps, and VGA at 90 fps, as well as photo capture at a maximum resolution of 3280 x 2464 and a frame rate of up to 30 fps. It connects via a 15-pin, 15 cm cable, and the camera can be accessed using MMAL, V4L, and libraries such as Picamera Python. It can be used for HD video, photos, time-lapse, and slow-motion footage.
