It is the first time I buy a machine with a portafilter, because I wanted to stop using capsules. I bought it following a friend's recommendation who has tried several. It makes amazing coffee, very good crema, and also very good milk froth (Perla for espresso is very good). The main difference compared to the common ones on the market is that it has a boiler instead of a thermoblock, which means it heats the water at a slow and steady temperature and not instantly like the thermoblock, which is why it needs a bit more preheating.
Indeed, the construction is not heavy or of exceptional quality, but it does not affect the excellent coffee it makes. You do need to hold it from the top to tighten the portafilter well. Just be careful – it needs to lock into a specific spot to make coffee. Not having used one before, I made a mistake, and since it was the first use, it needed quite a bit of force to turn the portafilter to the correct spot, and at first I didn’t lock it well, resulting in overflow and I thought there was an issue with the machine.
As for the button that others mention in reviews, I haven’t had any issue, but I am careful and don’t turn it on and off abruptly.
Eίναι η πρώτη φορά που αγοράζω μηχανή με portafilter, γιατί ήθελα να κόψω τις κάψουλες. Την αγόρασα ύστερα από πρόταση φίλου που έχει δοκιμάσει αρκετές. Φτιάχνει φοβερό καφεδάκι, πολύ καλο καϊμάκι, αλλά και πολύ καλό αφρόγαλα (ο Perla για εσπρέσσο είναι πολύ καλός). Η βασική διαφορά σε σχέση με τις κοινές της αγοράς, είναι οτι έχει μπόιλερ αντί για θερμομπλοκ, που σημαίνει οτι θερμαίνει το νερό σε αργή κ σταθερή θερμοκρασία και όχι στιγμιαία όπως το θερμομπλοκ, γι'αυτό και χρειάζεται λίγη παραπάνω προθέρμανση.
Όντως η κατασκευή δεν είναι καμία βαριά και εξαιρετικής ποιότητας, αλλά δεν επηρεάζει τον εξαιρετικό καφέ που φτιάχνει. Όντως θέλει να τη κρατάς από πάνω για να σφίξεις καλά το πορταφίλτερ. Προσοχή μόνο - θέλει να κουμπώσει σε συγκεκριμένο σημείο για να βγάλει καφέ. Μη έχοντας χρησιμοποιήσει στο παρελθόν, τη πάτησα, και επειδή ήταν και 1η χρήση, ήθελε αρκετή δύναμη για να στρίψει το πορταφίλτερ στο σωστό σημείο, και στην αρχή δε το κούμπωσα καλά, με αποτέλεσμα να γίνει overflow και νόμιζα οτι είχε θέμα η μηχανή.
Όσο αφορά το κουμπί που γράφουν σε άλλες κριτικές, εγώ δεν έχω κάποιο θέμα, αλλά το προσέχω και δεν το ανοιγοκλείνω απότομα.

The problem is the after sales support. The switch on the back of the machine broke, making it difficult for me to open and close it easily. I have sent emails to both the representative in Greece and the headquarters in Portugal asking how I can buy a new switch. I haven't received any response. It's a shame because a small damage can render the machine useless.

Το πρόβλημα είναι το after sales support. Μου έσπασε ο διακόπτης στο πίσω μέρος της μηχανής με αποτέλεσμα να μην μπορώ να την ανοιγοκλείνω εύκολα. Έχω στείλει email και στο αντιπρόσωπο στην Ελλάδα αλλά και στα κεντρικά στην Πορτογαλία να μου που πως μπορώ να αγοράσω έναν καινούργιο διακόπτη. Δεν έχω λάβει καμία απάντηση. Κρίμα γιατί μια μικρή βλάβη μπορεί να σου αχρηστέψει τη μηχανή.

It does not have an aluminum thermoblock, which most home machines have. The portafilter and the baskets are of good quality, although it can be a bit tricky to remove the coffee puck without the basket falling into the trash bin. With the pressurized portafilter, anyone can make a coffee at home without much effort, knowledge, or a grinder. That's why the basket has an extraction adjustment screw. If you buy pre-ground coffee from a supermarket, for example, and you want a quick extraction, you can tighten the screw a bit and vice versa. Έχει inox boiler που είναι βασικό και στην γεύση του καφέ και στο να μην πιάνει αλατα εύκολα.
Δεν έχει αλουμινένιο θερμομπλοκ που έχουν 9/10 οικιακές.
Το portafiler και τα καλαθάκια εντάξει είναι αστεια σαν ποιότητα και παλεύεις να πετάξεις το μπισκότο χωρίς να φύγει και το καλαθάκι στον κάδο.
Απλά στα pressurised portafilter φτιάχνει έναν καφέ ο καθένας σπίτι του χωρίς ιδιαίτερη προσπάθεια γνώσεις και μύλο.
Γι'αυτό και το καλαθάκι έχει βίδα ρύθμισης εκχύλισης ..
Αν πάρεις απτό σούπερ μάρκετ έτοιμο κομμένο καφε πχ και κάνει γρήγορη εκχύλιση σφιγγεις λίγο την βίδα και το αντίστροφο.
Κατεβαστε και τις οδηγίες απτην εταιρία στα ελληνικά που αναγράφονται όλα αυτά που προείπα.

The machine makes good coffee as well as frothed milk, and its use is easily learned. The only thing I had to pay attention to a little is when I put the coffee and press it to be as uniformly flat as possible so that the flow is the same from both outlets (when I was making two cups simultaneously, for example). Η μηχανή κάνει καλό καφέ όπως και αφρόγαλα και μαθαίνεται εύκολα η χρήση της. Το μόνο που έπρεπε να προσέξω λίγο είναι όταν βάζω τον καφέ και τον πιέζω να είναι όσο γίνεται πιο ομοιόμορφα επίπεδη η επιφάνεια για να βγαίνει ίδια ροή και από τις δύο εξόδους (όταν έφτιαχνα δύο φλιτζάνια ταυτόχρονα πχ). Έχω μείνει πολύ ικανοποιημένος.
For its price, it is quite decent although I don't get along well with the pressurized baskets. I have tried using a naked one by one and the coffee is always satisfactory for its price, and it heats up quite quickly. The milk frother is a breeze with very good pressure and it holds up to 500 ml of milk. Internally, it is quite well-made, plus it comes with a 10-year warranty.
As for the negatives, I will only mention that it has a lot of plastic on the outside and it takes a little "effort" to latch the closure
Για τα λεφτα της ειναι αρκετα τιμια αν και εχει με τα pressurised καλαθακια δεν τα παω καλα.εχω βαλει ενα ενα naked ο καφες ειναι ικανοποιητικος παντα για τα λεφτα της και ζεσταινεται αρκετα γρηγορα .Το αφρογαλα ειναι παιχνιδακι με πολυ καλη πιεση και κραταει για 500 ml γαλατιερα.Εσωτερικα σαν κατασκευη ειναι αρκετα ποιοτικη συν τα 10 χρονια εγγυηση.
Στα αρνητικα θα σταθω μονο οτι εχει πολυ πλαστικο εξωτερικα και θελει λιγο "κοντρα" για να κουμπωσει το κλειστρο

Better than I expected. Finally, the boiler must make the difference. The uniform temperature it provides during extraction helps in the taste of the coffee but also in the crema, which is impressive. The frothing is also very easy and with excellent results.

I had a United 1400w for 10 years. I have had this one for 2 days now. So far, it's super. Of course, there is no comparison, the old one was cheaper. It makes almost professional coffee and excellent froth. We'll see in the future???

Κρίμα γιατί μια μικρή βλάβη μπορεί να σου αχρηστέψει τη μηχανή.

Στα αρνητικα είανι ότι δεν είναι στιβαρή με πολυ πλαστικο εξωτερικα και θελει λιγο "κοντρα" για να κουμπώσει το κλείστρο.
The machine is great for home use. It has a stainless steel boiler, which is essential for the taste of the coffee and for preventing the accumulation of salts. It does not have an aluminum thermoblock, which most home machines have. The portafilter and the baskets are of good quality, although it can be a bit tricky to remove the coffee puck without the basket falling into the trash bin. With the pressurized portafilter, anyone can make a coffee at home without much effort, knowledge, or a grinder. That's why the basket has an extraction adjustment screw. If you buy pre-ground coffee from a supermarket, for example, and you want a quick extraction, you can tighten the screw a bit and vice versa. Μια χαρά είναι η μηχανή για οικιακή χρήση ..
Έχει inox boiler που είναι βασικό και στην γεύση του καφέ και στο να μην πιάνει αλατα εύκολα.
Δεν έχει αλουμινένιο θερμομπλοκ που έχουν 9/10 οικιακές.
Το portafiler και τα καλαθάκια εντάξει είναι αστεια σαν ποιότητα και παλεύεις να πετάξεις το μπισκότο χωρίς να φύγει και το καλαθάκι στον κάδο.
Απλά στα pressurised portafilter φτιάχνει έναν καφέ ο καθένας σπίτι του χωρίς ιδιαίτερη προσπάθεια γνώσεις και μύλο.
Γι'αυτό και το καλαθάκι έχει βίδα ρύθμισης εκχύλισης ..
Αν πάρεις απτό σούπερ μάρκετ έτοιμο κομμένο καφε πχ και κάνει γρήγορη εκχύλιση σφιγγεις λίγο την βίδα και το αντίστροφο.
Κατεβαστε και τις οδηγίες απτην εταιρία στα ελληνικά που αναγράφονται όλα αυτά που προείπα.

The machine makes good coffee as well as frothed milk, and its use is easily learned. The only thing I had to pay attention to a little is when I put the coffee and press it to be as uniformly flat as possible so that the flow is the same from both outlets (when I was making two cups simultaneously, for example). Η μηχανή κάνει καλό καφέ όπως και αφρόγαλα και μαθαίνεται εύκολα η χρήση της. Το μόνο που έπρεπε να προσέξω λίγο είναι όταν βάζω τον καφέ και τον πιέζω να είναι όσο γίνεται πιο ομοιόμορφα επίπεδη η επιφάνεια για να βγαίνει ίδια ροή και από τις δύο εξόδους (όταν έφτιαχνα δύο φλιτζάνια ταυτόχρονα πχ). Έχω μείνει πολύ ικανοποιημένος.
For its price, it is quite decent although I don't get along well with the pressurized baskets. I have tried using a naked one by one and the coffee is always satisfactory for its price, and it heats up quite quickly. The milk frother is a breeze with very good pressure and it holds up to 500 ml of milk. Internally, it is quite well-made, plus it comes with a 10-year warranty.
As for the negatives, I will only mention that it has a lot of plastic on the outside and it takes a little "effort" to latch the closure
Για τα λεφτα της ειναι αρκετα τιμια αν και εχει με τα pressurised καλαθακια δεν τα παω καλα.εχω βαλει ενα ενα naked ο καφες ειναι ικανοποιητικος παντα για τα λεφτα της και ζεσταινεται αρκετα γρηγορα .Το αφρογαλα ειναι παιχνιδακι με πολυ καλη πιεση και κραταει για 500 ml γαλατιερα.Εσωτερικα σαν κατασκευη ειναι αρκετα ποιοτικη συν τα 10 χρονια εγγυηση.

Better than I expected. Finally, the boiler must make the difference. The uniform temperature it provides during extraction helps in the taste of the coffee but also in the crema, which is impressive. The frothing is also very easy and with excellent results.

I had a United 1400w for 10 years. I have had this one for 2 days now. So far, it's super. Of course, there is no comparison, the old one was cheaper. It makes almost professional coffee and excellent froth. We'll see in the future???

It is the first time I buy a machine with a portafilter, because I wanted to stop using capsules. I bought it following a friend's recommendation who has tried several. It makes amazing coffee, very good crema, and also very good milk froth (Perla for espresso is very good). The main difference compared to the common ones on the market is that it has a boiler instead of a thermoblock, which means it heats the water at a slow and steady temperature and not instantly like the thermoblock, which is why it needs a bit more preheating.
Indeed, the construction is not heavy or of exceptional quality, but it does not affect the excellent coffee it makes. You do need to hold it from the top to tighten the portafilter well. Just be careful – it needs to lock into a specific spot to make coffee. Not having used one before, I made a mistake, and since it was the first use, it needed quite a bit of force to turn the portafilter to the correct spot, and at first I didn’t lock it well, resulting in overflow and I thought there was an issue with the machine.
As for the button that others mention in reviews, I haven’t had any issue, but I am careful and don’t turn it on and off abruptly.
Eίναι η πρώτη φορά που αγοράζω μηχανή με portafilter, γιατί ήθελα να κόψω τις κάψουλες. Την αγόρασα ύστερα από πρόταση φίλου που έχει δοκιμάσει αρκετές. Φτιάχνει φοβερό καφεδάκι, πολύ καλο καϊμάκι, αλλά και πολύ καλό αφρόγαλα (ο Perla για εσπρέσσο είναι πολύ καλός). Η βασική διαφορά σε σχέση με τις κοινές της αγοράς, είναι οτι έχει μπόιλερ αντί για θερμομπλοκ, που σημαίνει οτι θερμαίνει το νερό σε αργή κ σταθερή θερμοκρασία και όχι στιγμιαία όπως το θερμομπλοκ, γι'αυτό και χρειάζεται λίγη παραπάνω προθέρμανση.
Όντως η κατασκευή δεν είναι καμία βαριά και εξαιρετικής ποιότητας, αλλά δεν επηρεάζει τον εξαιρετικό καφέ που φτιάχνει. Όντως θέλει να τη κρατάς από πάνω για να σφίξεις καλά το πορταφίλτερ. Προσοχή μόνο - θέλει να κουμπώσει σε συγκεκριμένο σημείο για να βγάλει καφέ. Μη έχοντας χρησιμοποιήσει στο παρελθόν, τη πάτησα, και επειδή ήταν και 1η χρήση, ήθελε αρκετή δύναμη για να στρίψει το πορταφίλτερ στο σωστό σημείο, και στην αρχή δε το κούμπωσα καλά, με αποτέλεσμα να γίνει overflow και νόμιζα οτι είχε θέμα η μηχανή.
Όσο αφορά το κουμπί που γράφουν σε άλλες κριτικές, εγώ δεν έχω κάποιο θέμα, αλλά το προσέχω και δεν το ανοιγοκλείνω απότομα.

I give it four stars because the on-off switch broke for the second time and I have to send it back to the dealership, which is a hassle. (communicate, pack, send, be without a coffee maker for a period of time, etc.)

The problem is the after sales support. The switch on the back of the machine broke, making it difficult for me to open and close it easily. I have sent emails to both the representative in Greece and the headquarters in Portugal asking how I can buy a new switch. I haven't received any response. It's a shame because a small damage can render the machine useless.
