Description

The story unfolds in a suburb of Corfu, in the early 20th century. It is a time when nepotism dominates politics, and citizens vote for those who serve their personal interests. In this atmosphere, the love story of Rini and Andreas flourishes. The two young people truly love each other, but they find their passion hindered by a lack of money. However, each of them perceives the concept of honor and money differently. Andreas comes from a wealthy, aristocratic family that has fallen from grace, while Rini comes from a poor family. For Andreas, money is important because it will pay his debts and save his home. In contrast, Rini believes that she can live off her work and values her honor. It remains to be seen whether the two young people will overcome their problems and find the path that will lead them to happiness. Here is a simplified version of the book, suitable for foreign students learning Greek as a second/foreign language, mainly for students at an intermediate level of language proficiency (B1-B2).
