Kea is certainly not a pottery center of the Aegean, but its inhabitants have been using various types of ceramic vessels in their daily lives since ancient times and until recently.

Additionally, in recent centuries, it has had a significant agricultural and livestock activity, producing exports of barley, wine, animals, and cheese, which, combined with its geographical location, make it an interesting island to research its pottery.

Where did they find their vessels, who made them and in which places, what types they used, are just some of the questions that this book in hand attempts to answer.

A journey into the world of pottery and the relationship of pots with the daily life of the residents of Kea, as the art is part of the island's cultural identity, which is quickly fading.

That is why the purpose of this publication is simultaneously to promote it and to mobilize the public. A characteristic example is the display in the publication of the last remaining pottery workshop, which has been preserved intact to this day and must be saved.
