Description

The poems of Sylvia Plath in her work Ariel, which include many of her most well-known ones, such as 'Lady Lazarus', 'Daddy', 'Edge' and 'Paralytic', were written in the period from the publication of her first book, The Colossus, in 1960, until her death in 1963.

Even though the poems are desperate, vengeful, and destructive, they are simultaneously tender, open to things, and also unusually intelligent, sarcastic, with a keen perception... They are works of great artistic purity and, despite their existentialism, of great generosity... the book is a significant literary event.
