Description

Thematic map for Ancient Athens and Modern Athens with historical and architectural details. 2 maps - one city. For the first time, Athens is depicted in its timeless evolution, from the early Themistoclean walls to the Museum of Modern Art.

The map of Ancient Athens invites abstraction. What would Athens be like if the rivers Iridanos and Ilissos still flowed? If the topography that is captured on the map with contour intervals of 5 meters had not been lost? Imaginary concentric lines around the Acropolis show the evolution of the ancient walls and the core of the Ancient city. Look for points on the map where the wall is visible today.

On the reverse side of the map, there is a detailed diagram of the Ancient Agora and the Acropolis. Notable buildings or monuments are marked with numbers on the map, while the most important ones are depicted with 3D sketches.

The map of Modern Athens highlights the buildings that shaped the architectural identity of the city. Museums, statues, as well as street names and metro stations are shown on the map. On the reverse side, you can also find the paths that cross the National Garden and the Zappeion.
