Each clergy member, after several years of serving at the holy altar, develops certain liturgical habits that become second nature to them.
Externally, they perform the mysteries somewhat automatically, like an experienced doctor who has performed hundreds of surgeries and their hands move on their own. And since the actions and words performed by the clergy in divine worship are not many, whenever an unusual word is heard or something foreign occurs in the usual proceedings, it immediately draws the attention of the aware participants.
Generally, the first reaction is negative, as it is born out of a reasonable fear that the valuable liturgical tradition for everyone might be distorted. Indeed, when what we protect is correctly and faithfully handed down, it is good; however, "to observe the terms and not what has been initially well handed down, is bad everywhere, and worse in the Church of God."
