It doesn't have rubber grips, but textured plastic. The weight is noticeable when lifted, but not when rolling. The cable is braided but quite stiff. The lighting can be turned off and is generally controlled by the button on the bottom of the mouse. We only have side buttons on the left side, so I wouldn't call it ambidextrous. There are 2 buttons for adjusting the DPI (increase/decrease).
