Description

Coriander belongs to the category of aromatic plants and is used for its fresh leaves, as well as for its fruits. It originates from Western Asia and North Africa and has been used as a seasoning since ancient times. Its fresh leaves have a strong aroma and a citrusy flavor, with a spicy scent.

The seeds and the powder from the seeds are classic spices used in roasted dishes and in dishes containing cabbage, potatoes, and legumes.

Ingredients: The leaves contain vitamins C, A, and K, as well as essential oil and other substances. The seeds contain linalool and pinene, with a citrus flavor, and significant amounts of selenium, manganese, calcium, iron, magnesium, and dietary fiber. They also include thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid, tannin, and sugar.

Therapeutic actions:

  • The fruits are used externally to treat rheumatism and joint pain.
  • Coriander infusion promotes the secretion of gastric fluids and acts as a carminative, diaphoretic, and stomachic.
  • It soothes diarrhea, especially in children.
  • It stimulates appetite.
