Description

TROPIKAL 830 is an antifouling paint for protecting boats from the adhesion of shellfish and weeds. It is suitable for plastic, wooden and iron boats and for speeds up to 35-40 miles/hour. It shows a change in shade when in water due to its composition.

Preparation

A basic prerequisite for achieving good results is careful preparation.

New keels:
Wash the surface with detergent and rinse with water. Remove oils, grease, salt, etc. with White Spirit. Sand where necessary. Rinse with water and allow the surface to dry. Prime with 1-2 coats of the appropriate primer, UNI PRIMER (polyester), POLACRYL 301 or MARINE MINIO (wooden surfaces), X-RUST or MARINE MINIO (metal surfaces). For better adhesion of TROPIKAL 830, it is recommended to apply 1-2 coats of UNI PRIMER over any other primer.

Maintenance – already painted keels:
Wash the surface with water. After it dries, remove old and loose paint. In case the old antifouling paint is not compatible with TROPIKAL 830, sand and prime with 1-2 coats of UNI PRIMER. In any case, apply two coats of TROPIKAL 830.

Usage

Applied with a roller, brush, or spray gun. Dilute with 5-10% W.S. Must be stirred well before use.

Do not apply when the air and surface temperatures are below 5°C and above 30ºC.

Drying - Coverage

The ambient temperature and the coating thickness determine the time required for drying.

Surface drying: 1 hour.

Recoat time: 4-5 hours.

Coverage: 5-9m²/kg, depending on the thickness of each coat and the absorbency of the surface. The boat must be launched into the sea 4-5 hours after the application of TROPIKAL 830 and, for best results, no later than 24 hours.
