The two books by Manos Iliadis describing the MIT and Turkish intelligence services form the basis but cover developments up to 2010. Since then, up to 2021, there have been enormous changes in MIT and other intelligence services, as well as in the front and paramilitary organizations they use. The most significant change has been the recruitment, arming, training, and use of jihadists in the fronts and wars that Turkey is conducting in various countries.
These changes, as well as revelations about the uninterrupted relationship between the state, politics, and the mafia, are included in the new book by Kostas Pikramenos and Savvas Kalenteridis titled “MIT – The Lair of the Turkish Deep State,” which has the subtitle “Terrorism-Drugs-Grey Wolves.” The book becomes extremely timely, especially after the revelations by mafia boss Sedat Peker regarding the relationship between the Turkish state and the deep state, the mafia, arms and drug trafficking, and the sending of weapons to terrorist groups like Al-Nusra – Al-Qaeda.
The book is dedicated to the late Manos Iliadis and to all those who resist Turkish barbarity. What is MIT, the Turkish intelligence service, really? What is its structure and mission under the new legal framework? What technical means does it have? What is its role in Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's neo-Ottoman strategy?
Is the abduction or even the murder of “enemies” abroad permitted under its laws? What was its involvement in the murder of three Kurdish PKK officials in Paris in 2013? What are its front organizations and how does it recruit informants? What is the role of MIT in logistical – and not only – support for jihadists in Syria, Libya, and the Caucasus?
What are its networks in the Middle East, Africa, the USA, and Europe? What has been its activity in Greece over the last decade (2010-2020)? What are the actions and how do the paramilitary organizations operate in Turkey and abroad? This book – fully updated and with a huge amount of information – provides answers to the above questions and sheds light on modern MIT.
Recently published in France, it is an essential handbook for the Greeks from Greece and Cyprus who wish to deeply understand the neo-Ottoman Turkey of the 21st century through the presentation and analysis of the Turkish Intelligence Service. As the current President of the USA, Joe Biden, has stated in the past: “A President who does not trust his country's Intelligence Services is completely out of his mind.”
